Nostalgia Days
June 25-28, 2008

Enjoy this 4 day summer festival in downtown Morris. It all happens June 25-28, 2008. Beginning Wednesday evening and running through Saturday night, there is something for everyone during Nostalgia Days. Celebrating its 12th year, Nostalgia Days will present three very special nights of entertainment, including "Cattle Bandits" on Thursday, "Souled Out" on Friday, June 27th and the "Crown Vics" with Tony Kidonakis on June 28th. Annual favorites like the local talent showcase and pony rides will round out a weekend of great fun.

Wednesday, June 25

5:30 p.m. – “State Fair” – Morris Area Public Library
– Kick off Nostalgia Days with a slice of pie before enjoying this classic movie at 6:00 p.m.
Please call the library at 815-942-6880 so that there will be plenty of pie for all who attend.

Thursday, June 26

11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. - Steak Fry – Courthouse Lawn
– Sponsored by Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

6:00 p.m. - Bone-fied Pet Parade – Liberty Street to the Grundy County Courthouse

6:20 p.m. - Cloggin’ Moms – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn
– You won’t want to miss this performance by the moms from Pam’s Academy of Dance.

6:30 p.m. - “Cattle Bandits” – Courthouse lawn
– Get ready for an evening of great country music on the Courthouse lawn. (Rain location – Morris High School)

Friday, June 27

9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. – Downtown Morris
– Visit our unique gift and apparel stores for a chance to win a collection of gift certificates from our downtown retailers. The drawing for this “grand prize” will be on Saturday, June 28th at 6:25 at the courthouse stage. Many stores will have their own drawings as well.

9:00 a.m. - Water Color Demonstration and Instruction
First United Methodist Church - A state fair would not be complete without artists!  Members of the Morris Water Color Guild will demonstrate their talents and give both adults and children the opportunity to try their hand at water color painting. Artwork will also be available for purchase.

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. - Petting Zoo – Corner of Main & Franklin
– Step into the pen and get up close to sheep, baby goats, lambs, baby pot belly pigs, chickens, ducks, ducklings, chicks, goslings, and more!

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Grundy Bank Brown Bag Lunch and Pie Judging Contest
– Grundy County Courthouse Lawn – Featuring Mary Pfeifer.

11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Explore the Canal by Canoe
– Next to Canal Boat “Heritage” – Canoe on the I & M Canal!  Freeman Sports has rentals available at $10 for up to an hour.

1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Ice Cream Social – Grundy Bank Courtyard

Members of the Grundy County Historical Society will be on hand to explain the history of this Downtown Morris landmark.

– Local favorite, Tony Kidonakis joins the Crown Vics for an evening of your favorites from the 50’s.  This six piece band tears it up with two wailin’ saxes, slappin’ bass, boomin’ drums, rockin’ guitar and crazy vocals.  So, pop the clutch, and set the clock to rock, ‘cause The Crown Vics’ style is up-beat, lively and 100% danceable!  (Rain location – Morris High School)
